US Guard Ali Farokhmanesh has signed his first pro contract with Swiss D1 Team SAM Massagno and is looking forward to bringing his game overseas for this upcoming season. Ali is a recent graduate of the NCAA 1 University of Northern Iowa. The signing with Massagno is the icing on the cake after an exciting summer this year and a very memorable March Madness for UNI fans and certainly players and staff as UNI can be viewed as one of the two Cinderalla teams of the 2009/2010 college season, by beating UNLV and heavy-favorite Kansas in the NCAA tournament where Ali was impressive with his clutch 3 point-shooting in both games. Massagno Head-Coach Frank Facchinetti is really looking forward to having Ali run his team as the Point Guard in the upcoming season, as he was impressed with Ali after watching him, but was even more convinced after speaking with UNI Head-Coach Ben Jacobson about the tremendous leadership, heart and energy that Ali brings to the court whenever he plays. We wish Ali all the best for the upcoming season and are looking forward to seeing him in Massagno soon

Ali Farokmanesh (Nothern Iowa) signs with Scorers 1st

Ali Farokhmanesh from the University of Northern Iowa (NCAA 1) has signed with Scorers 1st.

Ali is a point guard who can also play the shooting guard in a very efficient way. He shows great leadership on and off the floor and helped lead Northern Iowa to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament by beating #1 ranked Kansas with clutch shots down the stretch.

Ali is a hard working and cerebral player who makes every teammate around him better.  His basketball IQ allows him to be in the right spot at the right time on both ends of the floor.  He has strong fundamentals that allows him to be deceivingly athletic and get past defenders.

“In all the college basketball I have watched in person this year, there has not been a better point guard who manages the game like Ali can.  He never seems to panic in any situation and make smart choices with the ball giving his team the best opportunity to win the game.  He has frustrated teams who know what he can do and yet cannot stop him from getting the job done.” says Scorers 1st Scout John Nonemacher who has seen several games of Ali and Northern Iowa this past season.

We are happy to welcome Ali to Scorers 1st and are looking forward to seeing him on the court soon.

Games, Highlights and the complete player profile of Ali can be found on his player page on
