Germany BBL: Matt Bauscher and Goettingen get second consecutive win

BG Goettingen is having a tough season this year. Its seems that things work out a little better lately since the team won their second consecutive game last weekend. They faced 15th placed LTI Giessen and basically controlled the game for most of the time. The squad of headcoach Michael Meeks displayed high intensity throughout the game which gave them the chance to gradually extend their lead in every quarter. Eventually winning the game 76 -65. Scorers1st client Matt Bauscher had a very good performance with 15 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Jerel Allen had 19 points and Sean Evans posted a double double (18 points 13 rebounds) for BG Goettingen.

BEKO BBL: Tim Ohlbrecht stays with the Fraport Skyliners

German National Team Power Forward/Center will stay with the Fraport Skyliners and is looking forward to helping the team of Head-Coach Muli Katzurin to stay in the league and possibly trying to make a late Play-Off run.

Tim joined Frankfurt this past summer while competing in the European Championships in Lithuania with the German National Team.

Tyler Kepkay joins LTI Giessen 46-ers in the German BEKO BBL

Canadian Guard Tyler Kepkay signed a contract with the LTi Giessen 46ers to help the squad of Head-Coach Vladimir Bogojevic after Chase Griffin got hurt in the season-opener against the Telekom Baskets Bonn.

Kepkay is Point Guard who can look back at a good career already, having been a member of the Canadian National Team and playing a major role for his alma mater the University of Utah in the Mountain West Conference. Tyler started his pro career with ETB Essen in the 2009/10 season and quickly showed that he belongs on a higher level by combining for 21.5 points and 4.2 assists per game.

Joining Giessen in the top-league in Germany is a perfect opportunity for Tyler to further his career and everyone at Scorers 1st wishes Tyler all the best with the 46ers!

Quentin Pryor and David Bell lead Phoenix Hagen to victory

Phoenix Hagen has made a good start in the Beko BBL winning the seasonopener on the road against Walter Tigers Tubingen 76 -89. Scorers1st client Quentin Pryor was the leading scorer on the Hagen squad with 16 points and 4 assists. Zygmantas Jonusas and David Bell added 15 points and 14 points. The extremely good shooting of the team out of  Hagen and the fact that they outrebounded the Walter Tigers Tubingen gave them the advantage in this game and lead them to their first victory in the 2010/2011 season.

Aaron Fleetwood joins Pro Ballers Osnabrueck

Aaron Fleetwood signed a contract with Pro Ballers Osnabrueck this weekend to join the Pro A team for the upcoming season. The 6’9″ forward returns to Osnabrueck after playing for Phoenix Hagen in the last two seasons. In his last year when Hagen played in the german BBL. He played 30 games averaging 14.8 mpg, 5.1 ppg and 3.1 rpg. His best performance in the german highest league was a very good performance against Ratiopharm Ulm where he posted a double double: 14 points and 10 rebounds. Aaron is well known by the Osnabrueck organization since he played there in his rookie season. With bringing in Fleetwood, Osnabrueck ads experience and athleticism to their team.

Nick Schneiders clinches three year deal with New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig

Nick Schneiders signed a three-year contract with BBL team New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig. The 25-year-old big man orginally fromBielefeld graduated from  USC Upstate  this year and will continue his basketball career as a player with Braunschweig.  During his five years in college he averaged 12.4 ppg.6.8 rpg and 3 bpg. With this numbers he became the Spartans all time leader in blocked shots. He als was voted into the All America 2nd team. Braunschweig sport director Oliver Braun is sure that the tall German will make an impact in the BEKO BBL. ‘Despite his 220cm, he is quick on his feet. It will be difficult for any player to get off a good shot against him. We will give him time to get used to the BEKO BBL. We are happy that he decided to come to Braunschweig despite having many other offers’, said Oliver Braun. Schneiders is also happy that he can start his professional basketball career in Braunschweig. ‘Braunschweig is the ideal situation for me. I had a nice talk with coach Sebastian Machowski, the Volkswagen Halle is super and its not too far to my home town Bielefeld. Braunschweig is a very successful team and I think I can get used to teh Bundesliga quickly. I can develop well here’, stated Nick Schneiders.

John Bynum joins TBB Trier in the german BBL

US Combo Guard John ‘JB’ Bynum is back in a European top league after signing with TBB Trier in the German D1 for the 2010/11 season.

After sitting out for a year, John got back on the court with the Crailsheim Merlins in the German Pro A in the 2009/10 season and took full advantage of the opportunity, that presented itself to him, by guiding the Merlins to an unexpected 6th spot in the standings of the Pro A and being one of the, if not the, best guards in the Pro A.

Playing for Trier is the third stint in the German top league after having played for Bremerhaven and Paderborn during his career.
