Last sunday was a historic night in the history of  SAM Massagno. For the first time ever they were able to beat one of the topteams in Switzerland, the nr. 2 Benetton Fribourg. With an extraordinary teameffort and an unleashed Scorers1st client Ali Farokmanesh they managed to win the game with an impressive 81 -70. Massagno got of to a great start leading 12-0 in the first minutes of the game. After a time out of Fribourg, they got the gap back to 14-12 really quick, ending the quarter with a 15 – 13. Benetton Fribourg had a really hard time coping with the defense of SAM Massagno and offensively wasnt able to stop Ali Farokmanesh. Ali had an amazing shooting night shooting 4-4 2p, 5-7 3p, 7-9 1p combined with 3 steals, 4 assists and 4 rebounds ending up with 30 points in total.

US Guard Ali Farokhmanesh has signed his first pro contract with Swiss D1 Team SAM Massagno and is looking forward to bringing his game overseas for this upcoming season. Ali is a recent graduate of the NCAA 1 University of Northern Iowa. The signing with Massagno is the icing on the cake after an exciting summer this year and a very memorable March Madness for UNI fans and certainly players and staff as UNI can be viewed as one of the two Cinderalla teams of the 2009/2010 college season, by beating UNLV and heavy-favorite Kansas in the NCAA tournament where Ali was impressive with his clutch 3 point-shooting in both games. Massagno Head-Coach Frank Facchinetti is really looking forward to having Ali run his team as the Point Guard in the upcoming season, as he was impressed with Ali after watching him, but was even more convinced after speaking with UNI Head-Coach Ben Jacobson about the tremendous leadership, heart and energy that Ali brings to the court whenever he plays. We wish Ali all the best for the upcoming season and are looking forward to seeing him in Massagno soon
